THE SIGNS OF BACKSLIDING

Image
The spiritual sign of backsliding ends with unbelief as explained in Hebrews 3:12-13. Firstly, people spiritual lives start waning. They begin to enjoy and love worldly things and grow to do so even more. They get more relaxed in secular things then later secular activities make up their daily lives. Next, they begin to be deceived by sin. Here they start to give so-called valid reasons for doing bad things. Then, instead of feeling remorse, they shrug off the thought of guilt and repentance and make themselves believe sins are norms. It could be fornication, lies, smoking, drinking. They call it being smart, enjoying themselves, having fun etc. Then they get to a point where they argue against the word. Proving worldly reasons why people should do certain things that the word kicks against. They then begin to condemn other Christians, men of God, and people who are living lives that please God while pointing to other failed Christians and men of God as the true state of other Chr...

ARE YOU OWING GOD THANKS?

Image
A lot of folks have not learnt to appreciate God for his goodness in their lives. Many go ahead to ask for more things while they are yet to thank Him for the ones He has done.  A significant illustration is seen in the bible. This happened when ten lepers met Christ asking to be cleansed from their leprosy in Luke 17:11-19(NIV); 11  Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee.   12  As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance   13  and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” 14  When he saw them, he said,  “Go, show yourselves to the priests.”  And as they went, they were cleansed. 15  One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.   16  He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. 17  Jesus asked,  “Were not all ten cleansed?...

THE RELIGION OF ATHEISM AND THE NEED FOR SALVATION

Image
This writing is to Christians especially those who have passed the milk stage in Christ. This topic bothers around atheism and exposition into few things, some of us already know.  One of mind's degrading thought and satan-inspired religion is atheism. As much as grown Christians agree that christianity is not a religion but a way of life, we know that Christians serve Christ and the world calls that a religion.  It is true that not being busy is busy ness in itself. That is, idleness is being busy doing nothing. Therefore, it is equally attributable to this context that every belief forms a religion. The truth is that atheism can be said to be the worst religion, because it gives you a seemingly wise but grossly foolish view that, men are scientific beings and that the world is made through strange and complex science, not God. This religion will make more people experience God's fearful judgment on the last day. The devil and evil spirits are particularly interested in the d...

BURNING SPIRITUALLY EVEN WITH A BUSY SCHEDULE

Image
Hi guys, I am writing to folks who like me have a job that keeps them really busy and the effect of this on our walk with God. Many of us could have had closer walk with God at some points in our lives and now it's as if, God's watching you from a far distance. You, doing yours, God, doing His and getting close once a week or anytime you remember. Suddenly, we don't attend mid week services, miss some Sunday services, open the Bible once in a while and hardly pray. Basically, quenching the spirit's fire because you've now got a job that pays you. Well, so this is to help us all. We're all godly folks, who want to please God, but it feels tougher than we thought. I'll share a story and help with some useful tips. Personally, I enjoy studying my bible alongside meditating often. My bible is well marked from previous studies and of course, I balance that with prayers. That wonderful personal fellowship where you're just there enjoying the communication with...

OVERCOMING HABITS

Image
The thoughts and habits fought by many Christians even after being born-again, which in our godly sense we term ‘carnal doings’ are very real. Few Christians grow and leave their old habits to begin such deep journey with Christ and therefore may not quickly understand the struggles others go through to get past their old life and truly live their lives for the One they now pledge it for, Jesus Christ. Some have read, prayed, studied and in so many years wonder if living a truly Christian life is possible. This becomes even mind disturbing when sermons expressing and describing God's holiness are taught. At this point, frustrated Christians numb their minds to feel less guilty about the collusion of the word with their lives. While some listen with a willing heart only to act like they used to. Anger, envy or whatever ladens a Christian can be overcome if the following are adhered to:   Meditation:  The strongest form of changing the heart is done throu...

THINKING LIKE A CHILD OF GOD

Image
As I meditated over the scriptures recently, the Holy Spirit began to show me a new way of thinking I had always read but never gotten hold of in the word. Like many Christians, you probably are also waging a war against unclean thoughts that once controlled you. Which sometimes you win, and at other times, lose. Although, the truth is that as Christians we ought to always win the battles in our minds, because most times when we don’t win, we experience guilt. These thoughts also lead sometimes lead us to actions we vowed never to repeat. The bible in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 says  “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”.  This tells us that the most significant battle a Chris...

EFFECTIVE PLANNING

Image
One of the most important, but not often considered tool for success is "Effective planning". Many of us have given our lives to habits and things that have shaped us differently from what we would love to be or achieve, because we did not put considerable efforts in planning and working towards our goals at the right time.  Plans require action to get fulfilled. However, we cannot have a successful and very fulfilled life without great plans. For e.g when you seriously decide to make heaven, then you'd give your heart to Christ, live a holy life and pursue that goal.   I had more respect for Bill Gates after seeing the series "Inside Bill's Brain", because of his well planned life from youth. To live a fulfilled life, we have to drive things our way by planning our lives and building our habits in line with our goals.
